Types of Acne Scars

“Large Pores” – Most commonly seen on the nose, glabella, and cheeks

Fibrotic Scars – Firm, 2-4 mm scars containing scar tissue

Soft, Depressed Scars – 3-6 mm seen on cheeks, forehead, chin. These sometimes coalesce to form undulating scars.

Violaceous Scars – Red – purple due to underlying blood vessels

Hyperpigmented Scars – In individuals with darker complexions

Excoriated Scars – Due to picking (scratching acne lesions)

Hypertrophic Scars – Containing an excess buildup of scar tissue
