James M. Swinehart, M.D. is a board-certified Dermatologist, and has been in private practice in Denver since 1979. He was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Fresno, California, where he was valedictorian of his class at Sanger High School. The University of California at Berkeley was next attended for four years with a major in chemistry.
At Creighton University School of Medicine, he ranked third in his class of 85, graduating Cum Laude (with honors) as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. During his residency at the University of Colorado, Dr. Swinehart received his specialty training, and was Chief Resident in Dermatology in 1977-1978.
Postgraduate training has included numerous seminars and courses in specialized procedures, including laser surgery, liposuction, hair transplantation, leg vein sclerotherapy, blepharoplasty, and cosmetic surgery.
In addition to a position as Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, other Medical Staff privileges include those at Porter, Swedish, Craig, St. Luke's, Presbyterian, and Littleton Hospitals.

Professional society memberships include the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Swinehart is also is past-president of the Colorado Dermatologic Society. In addition, Dr. Swinehart founded the Colorado Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
